Au revoir!

Stage honors on the Champs for Rogier, but overall honors to the unbeatable Pantini. Congrats once again. Matt repeated his runner-up position from last year, making him the Andy Schleck of our tipping competition. This, though, only 2 points separated it from the ultimate prize. Rogier took his second Champs victory in a row and jumped onto the final spot of the podium. Astrid also had a repeat Top 5 performance. Finally, Sapna sprinted to fourth place. In all, eight of us finished in the Top 100 of the Erik TKS Game. Well done to all of you.

  1. As always, your pre- and post-stage analysis, commentary & speculation have been a pleasure to read and brought another dimension to Le Tour. Many, many thanks Robin. We just need to find a way to knock Pantini off his perch! Cheers

  2. Congrats to our repeat champ Pantini, an achievement rivalled only by that of the great man Cadel himself.

Matt, hopefully you won’t do an Andy Schleck and make it three in a row next year but you’ll go the Cadel Evans way and win it next year after two tough second places.

Astrid, you may have been beaten by Rogier but you have again made your brothers look like easy-beats.

And finally, a big thank you Robin for making the Tour even more enjoyable again.

  3. Congratulations again Pantini! 3 in 5 years, you are quite simply the dominant force in TdF tipping! An in-form Mahervellous is as untouchable in tipping as he is on the golf course. (Our only hope against you is for Erik Zabel comes out of retirement.)

Well done also Matt and bad luck at the same time. You will be a very deserving winner when the time comes.

Incredible effort again Robin, thankyou – I echo what Adrian said in his email, its your enthusiasm that makes this such a great competition.

Well played to everyone elseand see you next year (apart from perhaps one final entry…)

  4. Yep have to add my thanks and congrats to all as well for a wonderful couple of weeks enhanced as it was by the wit and wisdom of you all. Special thanks to Robin for the truly asounding quality and quantity of blogging that certainly kept me waiting to see supposed tactics unfold (and promised Gesink attacks). Looking forward to next year already, sure both Pantini and Cadel have started planning their title defences.

  5. Great race all! What a Boucle it was (grand et petit)! Big thanks to Robin and all the other regular contributors. I for one, can’t wait for next year and a shot at redemption. Congrats to all of Australia and its dual champions!

Since I seem to have taken on the role of Andy, here’s my two cents: I’ll be back…I’m only in my mid-30′s and will have more shots at tipping. I could have won this year, but Pantini didn’t wait for me when Petacchi didn’t show up on the Champs. And the idea of a last stage sprint to decide the winner is ludicrous anyways. Who wants to see a tipping competition decided by a sprint?? I’m sure to win when they design a proper Tour – 21 mountain finishes and no ITTs.

    Now back to baseball…
