Winner of the 2011 Tour de France! Congrats to him and all the Aussies on a well deserved win after a near perfectly ridden Grand Boucle. Schleck the Younger put in an excellent time trial, but it was not enough. He will be able, though, to fight many more years to get that Maillot Jaune in Paris.
In our tipping competition Cameron and Milton took the stage win, while Matt edged 1 point closer to Pantini, who now has a 3 point lead going into the final stage. There is no tie breaker, so if it ends up tied for the win, the winners will have to share the trophy. In that case, Pantini would have to send the trophy to Matt at the beginning of 2012. Ronnie, sits in third place and it is all bunching up behind him in the fight for the podium.
In the pancake stakes, Sapna has simply demolished Robin this year. She did the same to her sister, Suchi. The Van Koert honors are still being fought over by Astrid and Jeroen, although Astrid would seem to have her brother covered for the final stage. Astrid also looks to have the upper hand over hubby Rogier, but they are only separated by 1 single point. Cameron handsomely beats his younger brother Michael, while Jeroen and Cameron will decide who will be the winner of the tipping fanatics (those who go for all three Grand Tours, Jeroen, Cameron, Jon, Milton, Lucas and Robin).

Congratulations Cadel!
It only took the differing shots of Cadel and Andy on the warm up bike for patrons of the lounge room of Todd and Bec to be convinced that Cadel had won the Tour before the ITT had even started. Cadel was completely focussed and in the zone but Andy’s face looked as white as a ghost in the moments before he had to front the starters gate. They were amazing pictures.

Amazing pictures indeed Cam, but I prefered those from the end of the day on the presentation stage. I like the call of commentator Gerrad Whately – “That’s what it looks like when a man’s dreams come true.” I’m a bit bleary eyed this morning (and every time I rub them they seem to fill with chalk dusk after our decorative efforts on the road outside) but I can still appreciate a picture that we took of what it looks like when a lougeroom’s dreams come true. If I could be so bold as to suggest a possible addition to the blog of a photo gallery, then I’d be happy to share this image of joy with the wider world. I’m not quite sure how to do it myself but pretty sure that it can be worked done by clever people who know stuff about computers.
Looking forward to tonights magnificent glory march up and down the champs!
Still can’t quite believe it!!!!

A sweet sweet victory. As Andy rolled out of the starter’s gate. The words ‘you have to do your time first’ filled my head. I knew then, that if there was any justice in the world, Cadel would win. For the hunchback from Notre Heads had done a very tough apprenticeship indeed. And despite no-one believing he could win this year, proved to all of us that as long as we stand above ground and breathe air, we can all achieve our dreams.
What a tour.
What a long few years.
Victory is ours.
Now where is our public holiday!
